Natural / Historical Sights

Trsat Fortress

The main tower of the fortress can be seen from any point in the town of Rijeka. The walls of the fortress reach the height of 20-25m. It was built in the 13th century, after it was destroyed in the 1750 's earthquake, completely rebuilt and turned into a luxurious castle with rose windows and Gothic ornaments.The main tower of the fortress there is a sightseeing area. Nowadays, there are exhibitions and concerts organized in the courtyards and halls of the fortress. There are summer cafe and a small museum operating.

The Fortress Nehaj

The fortress is located near the town of Sinj, it was build in 1558 on the top of the Nehaj hill.The height of the fortress walls of Nehaj is 18meters and the walls made of stone blocks. It has 5 towers and over 100 gun-slots. The fortress has a large courtyard and cellars and open for tourist visits. There are different events and concerts organized in. The annual festival called Knight Days in Sinj. Open from July till October from 10:00-18:00.

Northern Velebit National Park

The area of the nature park is 109sq. km, there is the Botanical garden and 2 reserves: Hajducki and Rozanski. The peak park of the mountain range has a special feature, and there is a cute for mountaineers and nature lovers. The most popular train is the Premuzic's trail. There are many rare plants growing on the territory of the Northern Vesebit park. Here is the deepest cave in Croatia and one of the ten deepest caves in the world: Lukina jama cave. You can get refuge by car from the Lika side through Krasno and from the sea side through Oltar. The crest of Vuchak where the climbers' refuge is located has a beautiful view of the sea.

Plitvice Lakes National Nature Park

Plitvice lakes are an oasis of virgin nature surrounded by mountains. There are 16 beautiful lakes with transparent blue-green water. Small rivers and springs constantly fill the lakes. Particularly interesting are the caves located under the waterfalls. There are about 152 species of birds, numerous kind of butterflies. The flora of the park consists of 1200 species of plants.The park Plitvice Lakes is open for visit every day from 7:00 to 20:00.

Barac Cave

This cave is situated next to Nova Krslja village of Kvarner region, 6km to the east of the town of Rakovica. Plitvice Lakes only 15 minutes from. This is a karst caves total length is 27km. There are 3 caves. This cave os open from March till October every day from 10:00-18:00, ( in October and March only for the weekend and till 16:00)

Kosljun Monastery

Kosljun is an island in Puntarska, the coast of Krk, There are a goup of Franciscan monks living in the Monastery. Earlier was a Roman villa.There are also a permanent exhibition of church.The monastery also owns a rich library of 15000 books contains a Jewish Bible from the 11th century.

Krk-Island

This island is the largest island of the Adriatic, located in the center of the Kvarner bay. The south side of the island is the most popular. Kirk and Baska are the most visited parts of it. Kirk is an old Croatian town, rebuilt in the 12th century. Krk is just 30 minutes from Rijeka. Tips: enjoy the KRK cuisine and delightful home-made wine.

Cres-Island

Cres is separated from the island of Losinj by a canal built by the Romans. It is connected by ferry from Istria and the island of Krk. The natural phenomenon is the islands's freshwater lake Vrana, The western and southern parts of the island is covered with rocks. Cres is the second largest island of Croatia. Tips: Visit Lubenice -is one of the first inhabited city, built on the cliff. Valun- is a small town with sandy beaches and coves.

Rab-island

It is covered with pine forests and has a beautiful sandy beaches. Rab town is a medieval city, the old town walls are still visible. The southwestern side is covered by oak forests. Ferris connected the island of Rab with the island of Krk and Pag.

Losinj-Island

Losinj is covered by lush and evergreen vegetation'main resort is the town of Mali Losinj. Tips: Windsurfing option: Cikat bay-it is well known for its beach. There is weekly flight to Krk, but you will need to take the ferry and drive. It is a very popular tourist destination thanks for its climate and large quantities of fish.

Pag-Island

Pag has a very special landscape, here you will find the largest salt producer company and the salt fields. During the summer Pag island is a perfect place for those who want to party in Novalja. Tips: Pag is also known for the cheese -it is made from sheep's milk. The island connected by bridge to the mainland.

Vir-Island

Vir island is only 26 km from Zadar and it is connected by a bridge to the mainland. Bay Sapavac is a tourist settlement and it is the largest in the island. It is ideal for families because of its sandy and pebble beaches and pine trees. You can try watersports ( sail, surf, jet ski) The area is ideal for mountain biking. Tips: in the bay of Sapavac you can try the medicinal mud ( good for the rheumatic diseases)

Moscenica Draga is a former fishing village near Opatija, pebble beach, windsurfing, diving center, deck-chair rental, sport equipment rental (boats, pedal boats), numerous food service facilities.

Brsec: pebble beach, it can be reached by a small boat or via foot paths leading from the main road Rijeka,not touristy, located beetween Moscenicka Drage and Brsec, 20km from Opatija, far from the tourist crowd

Baska: pebble & sand, restaurants, coffee bars and souvenir shops, rent umbrella and chairs, lively beach with lot of facilities, located in Krk- island

Lubenice: easy to reach by ferry from Krk (30-40 minutes) or by bus from Mali Losinj, beach with white stone, peaceful not crowded, located in Cres-island

Koralj: sandy beach, rocky and paved, located front of the hotel in Krk-island, blue flag, changing cabin, shower, pedal boats rental, beach bar, beach chairs and parasols rental

Paradise: around 2 km sandy beach, blue flag, beach volleyball, aquaparks, dog friendly ( south part of the beach), located in Lopar, Rab-island

City Beach: nearly 2 km long, located in Crikvenica, blue flag, sandy and pebble, sport-recreational facilities, children's playground, bars, restaurants, accessible to people with disabilities, beach for pets- located next to the port of Podvorska

Opatija

It is a popular summer and winter resort, the whole sea-coast to the north and south of Opatija is rocky and picturesque.

Crikvenica

Crikvenica became officially a health resort and due to its favourable climate, in the space of just 16 years Crikvenica became the most important resort on the riviera.

Novi Vinodolski

City hinterland is used for agriculture and winemaking, as Novi Vinodolski is well known tourist centre.

Senj

is an old town on the upper Adriatic coast in Croatia, in the foothills of the Mala Kapela and Velebit mountains.

Novalja

is a town in the north of the island of Pag in the Croatian part of Adriatic Sea. In recent times Novalja became famous because of the Zrće Beach, which is one of the biggest summer party zones in Europe.

Cres -Island

Cres and the neighbouring island of Lošinj once used to be one island, but were divided by a channel and connected with a bridge at the town of Osor. Cres's only fresh water source is the Lake Vrana.

Mali Losinj

The village is located in the most protected part of the Losinj bay. The town lies mostly on the eastern, sunny side of the island.
